kevin-durant-to-golden-state-warriors

Now when you read that headline most of you probably think I’m crazy. Kevin Durant, aka the Durantula, is a superstar player and is easily a top 5 player in the NBA. But as we’ve seen with other star studded teams,  like the old New York Knicks, it doesn’t matter if you have a few great individuals on your team. In reality you need exactly that…a TEAM.

The Warriors failed to re-sign key role players when they inked a multi-year deal with the superstar. So in reality, I don’t believe Golden State had an “A” worthy offseason. You be the judge.

Players gained: Kevin Durant (and others)

Players lost: Andrew Bogut, Harrison Barnes, Leandro Barbosa, Festus Ezeli, Marreese Speights, Brandon Rush.

Now yes, GSW signed some great guys this summer, but they lost some core role players that contributed to this team winning 73 games last season. Cmon now, Harrison Barnes was a candidate for 6th man of the year and Andrew Bogut (when healthy) blocked more shots than teenage condoms! These dudes are competitors and played their role to perfection last season.

The team is definitely not the same as last year. Do you think they will be as effective this year without those role players? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
